Although the smartphone was discontinued on 25th April 2006, Nokia’s N73 still proves hugely popular amongst Indian consumers. However, these N73 users continue to be frustrated because this particular device is incapable of running the leading IM [Instant Messaging] app – WhatsApp. Consequently GoMo News is constantly bombarded with requests for information on this subject. We’ve gone to great lengths to create a special Nokia N73 & WhatsApp Help Page forthose seeking to load this app. The bad news is that you can’t run WhatsApp on the Nokia N73 at present. Presently, there’s a new twist readers are currently begging GoMo News to create a WhatsApp client that will run on the N73. Hence, we’re appealing to WhatsApp to modify their code so it can run on this classic Nokia handset.
The problem is thus … WhatsApp does support Nokia S60 (series 60) handsets but it actually requires S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1 and beyond (S60 3.1+) to be installed.
Unfortunately, the Nokia N73 is stuck at S60 3.0. Which is where GoMo News got entangled because we ran a story entitled Nokia update N73 Software.
Sadly, this won’t take the handset to S60 3.1+. So WhatsApp won’t run.

There’s another problem for Nokia S60 handset owners. Nokia froze the OVI store for its S60 platform on January 1st, 2014.
So those with an S60 device have to download WhatsApp from the firm’s own web site here.
The company says it will continue supporting Nokia S60 for the foreseeable future.
